Jason has been playing drums since he was 11 and in this time has achieved HND in contemporary music (Academy of Contemporary Music) and BA Hons in professional musicianship 2:1 (Brighton Institute of Modern Music).

He is teaching in the Sussex area both privately and in schools for Southern Counties Music Publishing Services (SCaMPS) and Brighton Institite of Modern Music (BIMM) alongside the likes of Mark Richardson (Feeder), Kieron Pepper (Prodigy), Vinnie Lammi (Mel C). As part of the arts in the community project, Jason set up drum workshops for Blathington Mill school (special arts status) in which he taught younger pupils of all abilities ending with group live performances.

Jason has a wealth of live playing experience working with his bands Heavy Traffic and Risen and also recently organised a drum clinic to promote drumming in Brighton where he performed alongside Adam Bushell (Rhythm magazine, Braund Reynolds, Sheryl Crow, Faithless) and Jason Bowld (Pitch Shifter / This is menace).

Jason offers private lessons in the East Sussex area teaching all ages and abilities.

Lessons are taylored to the individuals needs whether it be learning for fun or working on set aspects of playing for personal improvement.

Areas include:

  • Basics e.g. rudiments, beat construction.
  • Techinque e.g. grip, posture, Moeller system.
  • Styles (rock, jazz, funk).
  • Analysing favourite songs
  • Exercises and warmups.
  • Band skills.
  • Drum theory.

Basic rate £25 per hour.
